Movember

November is Movember! A global awareness campaign where men grow their facial hair out to raise awareness of men’s health issues, like testicular and prostate cancer – as well as mental health concerns such as stress, depression, and men’s suicide. Men’s health is in crisis; regular doctor check-ups and cancer screenings are more likely to be put off or skipped entirely. Men are also far less likely to seek help for things like anxiety and depression, resulting in the study results showing that men are 3.6x more likely to die by suicide than women.

The Movember movement was created to break the cycle that prevents so many men from sufficiently taking care of themselves. Here are some everyday tips to help break the stigma around men’s health for us all to live happy, healthy, and long lives.

– Talk to someone you trust, especially when things are tough.

– Get Moving. Exercise is excellent for your body and mind.

– Take a break. You do not need to be go-go-going all the time and solve every challenge today. Take time to gather your thoughts and give yourself some downtime.

– Get out and do something you enjoy with a friend.

If you’ve tried some of these things and still feel bad, talk to a professional for advice and support.
