According to the CDC, diabetes is the eighth leading cause of death in the United States. More than 37 million people have been diagnosed with diabetes and 1 in 5 of them don’t know they have it.
Here are some tips to help you stay informed and make healthier choices.
- Get Screened: Regular check-ups are essential for early diabetes detection. If you have risk factors, it’s important to get screened by your healthcare providers to catch diabetes or prediabetes in its early stages.
- Maintaining a Healthy Weight: Eating a balanced diet and limiting your intake of sugary processed foods, combined with regular exercise, is the foundation of diabetes prevention and management. If you are overweight, losing a small amount of weight can significantly impact your diabetes risk.
- Support and Education: Join diabetes support groups or seek education to understand your condition better. Knowledge and a support system can make a world of difference in managing diabetes.
