Tips For Building a Daily Meditation Practice

Many have practiced meditation for years, and for a good reason. Meditation gives you a sense of calm, peace, and balance that can positively impact your emotional well-being. It can be used to relax and cope with stress by refocusing your attention on something calming. It can also help you stay centered and find your inner peace.

Check out these tips to help you build a daily meditation practice!

  • Start small – Aim to start your practice with 5 minutes, three times a week. Slowly increase the minutes as the practice of meditation becomes part of your daily routine.
  • Find the time that works best for you – Begin by meditating at different times of the day to see what feels best for you. When you find that right time, try to keep up with it.
  • Get comfy – You do not have to be in a certain position to mediate successfully. Get into a position that is comfortable for you; it should feel easy and natural.
  • Try a meditation app or video – Don’t know where to begin? Try an app or a video and do a guided mediation. You can also choose what kind of meditation, i.e., breathing exercises, calming sounds, mood meditations.
  • Be consistent – It takes time to form a new daily habit. Thinking “same time, same place” will help you turn this new practice into a part of your daily routine.
