Clinical Exercise Physiologist - Preventive Medicine

BaySport’s Preventive Medicine division delivers health screening (or biometric screening) services to corporate clients in California. While most testing locations are in the San Francisco Bay Area, our team does support clients in Southern California, as well. We test approximately 11,000 program participants each year.

 

Team Member Role and Responsibilities

The BaySport Clinical Exercise Physiologist would be a member of our Preventive Medicine team where our service offering ranges from our clinic based executive physical examination programming to our worksite biometric screening programs. Duties would include physiological testing of clinic patients (Blood sample acquisition, treadmill evaluations, vision screenings, audiometric evaluations, pulmonary function testing, body composition, etc), lifestyle consulting or wellness coaching to reduce health risks, and program management/promotion, as necessary.

This full-time position would be based in the San Francisco Bay Area and would require travel from San Francisco to Los Gatos from time to time.

Responsibilities include:

  • Physiological testing of program participants (i.e. treadmill stress tests, pulmonary function tests, vision, hearing, etc.)
  • Present expertise in the area of cardiovascular disease risk identification and reduction (blood lipids, nutrition, weight control, exercise recommendations, diabetes management, etc)
  • Assist our attending physicians with the delivery of physical examination support services (resting vitals, health assessment, reporting, etc)
  • Serve as a team member with our worksite based health screenings
  • Fitness assessment/Exercise prescription
  • Excellent patient interaction skills
  • Patient chart processing and maintenance
  • Take initiative by adding their particular strengths to the position

 

To provide our clients with the best experience, we are asking for the following requirements:

  • Graduate degree in Exercise Physiology or related field and 3+ years of practical experience in the field
  • Current San Francisco Bay Area resident
  • Current certification in CPR/AED and Professional Certification (ACSM, NSCA or similar)
  • Ability to foster a team approach for success of all programs
  • Previous experience in a clinical setting with health risk assessment and wellness coaching
  • Thorough understanding of cardiac risk factors and lifestyle modifications to reduce risks
  • Experience with ECG recognition performing treadmill stress testing
  • Phlebotomy certification helpful, though not required; open to obtaining certification
