MINDFUL TIPS DURING THE HOLIDAYS…AND BEYOND!

Have you ever felt like you are emotionally exhausted or drained by the time the holidays roll around? You’re not alone. Work, family, the pandemic, and everything in-between can cause you to spiral into a place where you don’t want to be. It’s critical to prioritize your mind-body-spirit connection for optimal well-being.

 

ACCEPT IMPERFECTION – We tend to set the bar too high during the holidays and strive for perfection. The fact is no one is perfect.  We are all just trying our best, and good is good enough.

 

DON’T LOSE SIGHT OF WHAT REALLY COUNTS – Are you frustrated with the hustle and bustle, long lines, and traffic? Take a deep breath and think "this too shall pass.” Try to reflect on the little things that made you smile that day!

 

RESPOND WITH KINDNESS – You can’t control how others act during the stressors of the holidays, but you can control how YOU act.  Remember, those with a “humbug” attitude could be going through a difficult situation, so try to show empathy and compassion.

 

RETHINK YOUR RESOLUTIONS – Don’t be too hard on yourself.  Start with a small and achievable weekly or monthly goal.  Don’t obsess over last years’ goals and whether they were met or not.  Focus on moving forward without guilt or shame.
