New Year, New Law Providing Californians Direct Access to Physical Therapist Services

Effective January 1, 2014, Californians will have direct access to physical therapy services; thanks to the AB 1000 bill that Governor Brown signed into law on October 7, 2013. Currently, individuals seeking relief from pain or physical injury are required to get a physician diagnosis before a physical therapist may treat them. The start of the new year will eliminate this first step and provide individuals with immediate care.
