Summer is in full swing! Many of us take advantage of our fantastic weather and are more active during this season, but we all also tend to over-indulge in some of our favorite summertime meals and treats. Here are some easy ways to help you enjoy those summer treats without derailing your diet.

  • Enjoy Summer Produce: Summer is the best time to visit your local Farmers’ Market and stock up on the fresh (and in season!) fruits and vegetables. By stocking up and filling up on those healthy options, you can stay on top of your diet and provide easy go-to snacks for the entire family!
  • Keep Drinks on the Lighter Side: Many favorite summer drinks can be full of calories and sugars. Opt for a lighter beverage that helps you stay hydrated and healthy. Want a drink with some sweetness? Try adding your favorite fruits to chilled water!
  • Grilling Saves Calories: Cooking proteins on a grill is a great and easy way to add flavor without adding extra calories. Marinating your protein in a bit of salt and pepper or a light dressing can add tons of flavor and almost no extra fat, calories, or sugars.
  • Keep Your Summer Desserts on the Light Side: No barbecue or get-together is complete without something sweet. Don’t’ let a warm chocolate cake or heavy cheesecake bring you down; opt to keep things light, cool, and flavorful. An angel food cake with fresh berries or a sweet sorbet can be just as tasty!
