Health Tip of the Week:  February is Heart Monthhealthy heart

Cardiovascular exercise, also called cardio respiratory exercise involves movement that gets your heart rate up to improve oxygen consumption by the body.  An essential part of every exercise program, cardio not only helps you lose or maintain weight, it helps you build endurance so you can remain active for a longer period of time.

The American Heart Association (AHA) recommends at least 150 minutes per week of moderate exercise or 75 minutes per week of vigorous exercise (or a combination of moderate and vigorous activity).  30 minutes a day, five times a week is an easy goal to remember.

However, if you won’t be able to make it for 30 minutes, remember that something is always better than nothing – everyone has to start somewhere. Connect with your on-site BaySport fitness specialist to talk about your health and fitness goals.
