Mammogram Myths & Facts

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. While mammograms do not prevent cancer, they can certainly increase the chances of survival by diagnosing the disease as early as possible – before any signs or symptoms begin. They can detect small tumors up to three years before one feels them and can reduce breast cancer fatality risk by 25 – 30 % or more. If that is not enough to convince you to keep your next appointment, here are some mammogram myths and facts.

I’m too busy. Mammograms only take 15-30 minutes and are part of your routine health care. Put it in your calendar like any other healthcare appointment.
